1. Seen Mr. Pasupuleti Raja, M.A, LLB. Presenting his views on the concept of “ARUNIM” during interactive sessions of participants at “ARUNIM” inauguration organized by “The National Trust - Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment” at Constitution Hall, New Delhi on 22-09-2008. The above program me was inaugurated by Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, Hon’ble former President of India.
2. In connection with the birth Anniversary of Chri. Madhavilatha the inspiring soul behind “Dakshinya” a free medical camp wasClick Hereorganized at Dakshinya on 27/9/2008. On this occasion 65 children with mental retardation were assessed by the statutory medical board of Guntur District and Disability Certificate were issued. Prof. Uma Jyothi, Asst. Professor in Psychiatry, Govt. Medical College chaired the programme. Mr. Ramesh and Mr. Mohamad from Ingya Vysa Bankparticipated in the programme as Honorary Guests.
3. Training programme for parents having children with mental retardation was conducted at Dakshinya on 30/9/2008. Mrs. T.Vimala Founder, Dakshinya, inaugurated the programme. She stressed the importance of parent’s role in the training programme and the rights of parents of children with disability. Also seen Mr. B.Venkaih General Secretary, Mr. K.Nagababu principal and Mrs.B. Aruna Sree Vice Principal of Dakshinya.
4. In collaboration with Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi, 2nd “Continuing Rehabilitation EducatClick Hereion Programme” CRE was conducted at Dakshinya from 1st to 5th October 2008. About 20 special educators registered with RCI and working in various districts of AP participated in the above programme. The various faculty addressed the gathering are Mr.K.Uma Gridhar, Coordinator, Dr. Prasad Psychiatrist, Dr. Appa Rao, Medical Doctor, Mr. S. Bala Bhramachari Physiotherapist, Mrs. B. Leelavathi, Lecturer in Special Education, Dr. Vimala Lecturer in Psychology, Mr. B. Prakasham Speech & Audiologist and Dr. Prasad babu Lecturer in Psychology.
5.On 14th November inauguration of “Child rights week” was held at Click HereDakshinya in conncection with children’s day celebration. An Awareness meeting on Child rights was conducted. Dr. R. Ramu, Resident Medical Officer (Rtd) Govt. General Hospital-Guntur, Sri. Hrudaya Ranjan Executive Engineer (Irrigation Dept) and Smt. Swaropa Rani, Principal “Chaitanya” Institutions have attended the Program.
6. The ING VYSYA Foundation an International organization has chosen “Dakshinya” for celebrating their state level child rights day. “Chances for Children” Click Herewas the theme of the event.
On Thursday the20th Nov, 2008, it was a day by the ING Foundation at Dakshinya Institute for the Mentally Handicapped..The valedictory meeting was held at the evening, the District Judge Sri. Sivaiah Naidu was the chief Guest and Mr. Ravindra Babu, Regional Manager Ing Vysya chaired the programme. Responding the request made by Dr.T.V.Rao, Founder & Chairman- Dakshinya, and the District Judge assured to provide employment opportunities to the eligible mentally challenged in the Judicial department as per norms.
7. Child Rights Week Celebrations : The Child rights week was celebrated in the Target Area,with great enthusiasm involving the Community members, Local leaders, Parents, Teachers, CPC and CC members etc. with the theme “Children as Equal Rights Holders”. Awareness programs, Rallies and Distribution of literature an “Children as Equal Rights Holders” were organized in the Project areas. The response from the community was encouraging.
On 15th November an Awareness program and Rally were held at MPP school at ChinnaKakani (V) Mangalgiri (M). Sri. Y. Gangadhar Rao Surpanch, Sri. Crystofar Headmaster, all the staff members of the school Anganvadi workers, Parents, CPC member attended the meeting. The meeting was addressed by the Surpunch, the Headmaster and the Project Director the Speaker explained the origin and importance of Child Rights. After the meeting a Rally was organized in the Village shouting slogans on child rights.
On 17th November a meeting on the Child Rights was organized at Muncipal Corporation School, Netaji nagar. Smt. Vijayalakshmi Head Mistress, other staff members, Parents, CPC members and local people attended the meeting. The Project Director explained the details of Child Rights to the Community.
On 18th November the meeting was held at vaddaravani Veedhi, MCS aClick Herend MCS Urdu School. The Head master of both the Schools Sri. Rehman and Sri. ShariftheStaff members, some parents CPC member etc attended the meeting. The Project Director explained the various categories of Child Rights. On 19th November an Awareness camp was conducted at Reddipalam MPUP School. The Head master Lurdhu Reddy, otherteachers, Local people, Anganvadi workers, CPC members attended the meeting. The Project Director explained about the importance of Child rights.
